A referral fax lands from an internal medicine office: a new patient for an eczema evaluation. Intuo reads every page on arrival.
Name, birth date, insurance and reason are pulled into fields, the chart is found or started under your rules, and the referral is filed to the chart. A missing visit note is requested from the sender.

What clinics ask first.
Can it read a crooked, faint or handwritten fax?
Most of them, yes. Intuo reads the page image itself, including handwriting, stamps and checkboxes, and checks each field against what it already knows: your chart, your list of referring providers, real diagnosis codes. A field it still can’t trust goes to your team, cropped from the page beside its best reading.
What if the patient isn’t in our chart yet?
Intuo starts a clean new record from the referral when your rules allow it, or hands it to your team with a proposed match. It never merges two patients on its own.
Do we have to change our fax number?
No. Intuo connects to the fax service or the EHR fax inbox you already use, so referring offices keep sending to the same number.
What happens to a payer fax?
Each kind runs as its own job. An approval is filed to the order and the visit gets booked. A request for more information gets a packet from the chart for your coordinator to approve. A denial gets an appeal drafted for your provider or coordinator to sign. Each is tracked until the payer decides.
What does my team still do?
Approve records releases, payer packets and appeals, make every clinical decision, and settle the few faxes Intuo couldn’t place with confidence. The rest is filed, followed up and closed.
Is it HIPAA compliant?
Yes. Intuo is HIPAA compliant and we sign a BAA with every clinic before a single fax is read. Every action is logged against the chart it touched.
